Tues 9 Aug: Nagpur Maharashtra - India

Well, how often do intentions go unrealized?! When this website was an idea, I thought I’d write and post a couple of times a week. Then when the first week passed without having written something, I thought I can catch up. Then the second and third week came and went. Now I’ve been in India for a month: my how time flies.

I was co-leading a group of K-12 educators through an experiential travel India that focuses on four religious traditions indigenous to India: Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism. The experiences and lessons were many and I look forward to keeping in touch with a good number of them. Teachers, and the time and energy they invest into children, are of utmost importance! May our world soon realize this.

Unfortunately, shortly before the end of the travel course, when I was going to be “off,” and join a group of friends, I caught COVID-19. I was lucky my symptoms were mild and that I was able to isolate in a comfortable hotel. During the 2 weeks of basic isolation, I found myself vacillating between being frustrated and grateful: frustrated that I was sick at all, and missing the time with my friends, grateful that I was vaccinated and double boosted, my symptoms were mild, and I had a very comfortable place to be.

Though I was basically symptom free for the past couple of days, I wanted to be extra precautions, as the people I would be visiting were in their 90s. Finally, I finally tested negative and yesterday I left my self-imposed bubble. So, now the next phase of my time in India continues!
